To study medicine in Slovakia, there are several prominent universities which offer programs of medicine in English. Slovakia medical schools began offering English studies in the 1990s and the country soon became attractive to international students wanting to study medicine in Europe, especially with low tuition fees and cost of living.
After graduation, those who study medicine in Slovakia are qualified to work in the UK and across Europe, and can continue to qualify for specialist training in any UK hospital.
Schools in Slovakia offer studies in medicine and dentistry in 6-year programs, which lead to Doctor of General Medicine and Doctor of Dental Medicine degrees. The veterinary medicine study programme in Slovakia is 4 years.
Eligibility for 6-year medical programmes at Slovakia medical schools requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and a certificate giving access to medical university study in the student’s home country. The 4-year Slovakia veterinary medicine program requires a Bachelor degree in Sciences-BSc. An entrance exam consisting of multiple-choice questions on biology and chemistry is required of all candidates.
